About Us
The ICSH is a growing group of public-health minded, patient-focused physicians and providers who seek to partner with legislators, legal organizations, and health care provider advocacy groups to educate the public about the true harms of Idaho’s recent reproductive health care laws to patients, and the moral injury to healthcare workers that have resulted from these laws.
Additionally, we aim to serve as consultants for any future legislation related to health care to ensure it is congruent with the principles of medical ethics, standards of medical practice, and preserves the doctor-patient relationship.
Our History
In August 2022, following the US Supreme Court decision that returned regulation of abortion to the states, the Idaho Coalition for Safe Reproductive Health Care (ICSRHC) formed to help physicians and providers navigate trigger laws in Idaho that threaten the safety of their pregnant patients.
In 2023, the ICSRHC shifted to advance a broader mission as the Idaho Coalition for Safe Healthcare (ICSH). Our goals are to revise recent laws that criminalize ethical, evidence-based medical care and advocate for incorporating physician and health care provider perspectives in all areas of public policy and lawmaking that impact Idahoans.
Our Members
The Coalition comprises subject-matter experts on standards of care that drive our policy recommendations to decriminalize ethical and standardized care in medicine.
Members include physicians, nurses, certified nurse midwives, advanced practice practitioners, nurse anesthetists, medical assistants, mental health professionals, community health care organizations, legal and advocacy organizations, medical adjacent groups, and concerned citizens.
